Life Lately

I finally feel like I am coming up for air after a busy few months, so I felt the need to jump back on here and catch y’all up-to-date! Now, this isn’t my typical post where I recap the month and all the notable reads that I have devoured. Truthfully, I haven’t been reading much lately. My focus has been elsewhere, and I have been enjoying a break from my typical routine. Ok, so what have I been up to?!

February felt LONG! I spent this “short” month grinding at work and preparing for my half marathon all while the weather sucked. I kinda felt like a machine on autopilot, which led me to hitting a wall come March. By the start of March, I was not excited to train anymore. I had to push through and luckily with some good weather, I made it outside to run on trails and cheat on my best friend the treadmill. Despite being over it, I still completed the half, and I was excited to clock in a time of 2 hours 3 min. Not too shabby for this old lady who pretty much gave up the last few weeks.

I not only hit a wall with training, but I also hit a wall with work. If you work at a school or in education, you will get it. This happens each school year, and it is the reason spring break exists. For the 3rd year in a row, spring break brought me to sunny LA. I am incredibly fortunate to have mutliple friend groups out in LA and I got to spend 5 days catching up with everyone. I was able to hike Griffith Park, a personal favorite, and try out Chateau Marmont, a Hollywood institution. The highlight for me was living carefree without worrying about my bedtime and getting to be spontaneous as I went out with friends. I can’t wait to go back in late June!

So what’s up next?! I am very excited for spring, and my eye is on the prize, summer vacation. This spring, I have a fun trip out to Seattle in early May to see friends, and lots of events and a comedy show to keep me entertained. This summer, I will have 10.5 weeks of pure relaxation and fun to re-energize. So far, I have a conference booked in Rehobeth Beach, DE in June, a trip to LA in late June, and a family trip to Portgual and Spain for July. I can’t wait!

I don’t have any books to link for you all, but I am including a roundup of some items that I have loved or have caught my eye. Thanks for reading and let me know if you like this new blog style. I wanted to find a way to stay connected with the CH community, even when reading has been on the back burner!

xoxo, L
